What WFC stands for
Wanaka Concrete Flooring (WFC) has over 30 years' experience throughout New Zealand and Australia with Mana Skipper as the companies Construction Manager.
Mana puts his reputation on the line with every job. "We only do concrete and its something we take pride in," says Mana.
Industry connections
With WCF's dedicated focus, it has the connections and relationships that come from years of working in the industry.
Many local construction firms will only use Mana's team, which includes fully qualified builders, expert concrete placers and experienced labourers.
Further, because WCF is always prepared, knows the the system and has rapport with regulations staff and inspectors, approvals and paperwork go through smoothly and promptly.
Do it once, do it right
Mana's mindset is simple: He doesn't take risks, he doesn't take chances.
"Concrete is a funny thing, getting it right is an art and a science," he says. "You have to be detail-minded, because once it is set it is hard to go back and change it. We use laser measurement to get it perfect."
A no-nonsence approach
Foundations affect the entire structure they support. It is why WCF is dedicated to doing a quality job.
"It'll take a few years for sloppy work to be shown, but it will show. It can go horribly wrong quite easily," Mana says. "Then you have to do it all again. It could even cost more than what you paid the first time."
Cutting corners is not an option. Mana says there have been several times when a builder has not followed best practice
preparing a site.
"I have said, 'I am not going to pour this'. They might say 'once it is covered in concrete no one will ever know'.
But, no, I simply won't do it."
Straight-up advice
WCF knows that no concreting product can match all the conflicting demands of a build. That's why Mana likes to get in early.
"I want to be there at the beginning of the build so I can bring in my experience. At the end of the day, I am responsible for it," he says. "I believe that customers should get what is fair."
Building business
The Southern Lakes region is booming: 20,000 new residents are projected to arrive over the next 20 years meaning many more new homes will need to be built. New players will rush to enter the market – so local experience will matter even more.
"There's quite a few builders that I do regular work for," Mana says. "Concrete can be complicated, so one thing is we pride ourselves on being easy to deal with. "People have said they like us because we know what we are doing, who we are working with and that we are user friendly. That's important."
You might ask why. "Well, it's just important to me that my clients get the best possible results," Mana says.
"I know how problems come up. I've seen it all before and I know how to prevent them. That's what experience is really all about."
